A visit from a famous name...

Saturday 9th January 2016

It's the second Saturday of the month - so that means it's Borough Councillors Surgery Day! A couple of them come and sit in the library for an hour or so - so that locals can pop in to ask about anything - or let them know of issues in the village. Amelia and Tony are very helpful and pretty dedicated - as they are the only ones that turn up every month.

In other news, the computers were pretty busy today. The most popular things that customers were printing off today were either boarding passes to fly off to somewhere warmer and more exotic than Staffordshire, or returns labels for Amazon purchases going back after Christmas.

Also, there was much excitement when we had a famous name come in today. It was Peter Andre!  Actually he comes in every week, with his wife. He is very modest and unassuming and no-one bothers him for autographs or selfies. They are very cool and laid-back in Silverdale. However, today I did ask him if I could take a photo and he said yes Here it is!

Actual Peter Andre and his wife :-)
For our Blast from the Past today - we had a real famous person in the library in October 2012 when poet (and now Oxford Professor of Poetry) came to Silverdale to do a session with the Keele Poets - who also use the rooms in the library every Thursday morning.

I was lucky enough to sit in for a bit of it - when he was reading his own poetry and telling us how he became a poet. If you want to read more about this fantastic day - click here.
